Roosevelt Collection

The Roosevelt Collection is a 1.3M SF mixed-use development located in the heart of Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood. The existing lifestyle center is comprised of 391,000 SF of retail, 342 residential units, and three levels of parking with 1,500 spaces.

McCaffery successfully executed an exciting vision to improve the viability of the retail, create a unique gathering place for apartment residents, shoppers and the community, and to infuse vitality into the overall development. After acquiring the project in 2011, McCaffery demolished the retail pavilions in the center of the project to create open space and improve exposure and visibility from Roosevelt Road and along the East and West wings of the project. A courtyard that includes a children’s playground, a koi pond, casual seating with fire pits, a life-size chess board, a grand fountain, and numerous open spaces surrounded by lush landscaping was added. Redesigning the Roosevelt Road entrance created a grand streetscape and provides a strong “sense of place” while generous sidewalks with varied landscaping, planters, bollards and comprehensive lighting design enhance the overall community atmosphere of the project. 

The sweeping improvements made to the project by McCaffery inspired Crain’s Chicago Business to recognize Roosevelt Collection as a “market mover” in a November 29, 2012 article.
